2. Data we collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:
Account information — name, email address, password (hashed), postcode, and role (pet owner or professional).
Profile information — bio, profile photo, services offered, mobile number (professionals only, shared with clients on confirmed bookings).
Pet information — pet name, type, location details, and care instructions you add to your account.
Booking records — booking dates, service type, status, and notes exchanged between parties.
Messages — in-app messages between pet owners and professionals.
Feed posts & photos — text and images posted by professionals on the Pet Social.
Device information — when using the mobile app, standard request metadata (IP address, OS version) may appear in server logs.
We don't touch your money — no card details, bank credentials, or financial data of any kind are collected by MyPetCare.Pro. All payments for services happen directly between pet owners and professionals, entirely off-platform. We don't see it, process it, or store it.
3. How we use your data
Providing and operating the booking and messaging service.
Sending transactional emails (booking confirmations, reminders, message notifications).
Displaying professional profiles to prospective clients.
Calculating approximate distance between pet owners and professionals using UK postcodes.
Security, fraud prevention, and debugging.
4. Legal basis (UK GDPR)
Contract — processing your data to provide the booking service you signed up for.
Legitimate interests — security, abuse prevention, and service improvement.
Consent — profile photos and Feed posts (you choose to share these publicly).
5. Data sharing
We do not sell your data. We share it only with:
Microsoft Azure — hosting (App Service, SQL Database, Blob Storage) within the UK/EU region.
Resend — transactional email delivery.
Other users — your display name, profile photo, bio, and services are visible to other logged-in users. Your mobile number is shared only with clients whose bookings are confirmed.
6. Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time by emailing support@southbyte.co.uk. Completed and cancelled booking records may be retained for up to 12 months for dispute resolution.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
Access the personal data we hold about you.
Correct inaccurate data.
Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
Object to or restrict certain processing.
Receive your data in a portable format.

8. Cookies
The website uses a single session cookie for authentication and an antiforgery cookie for form security. No analytics, tracking, or advertising cookies are used. The mobile app does not use cookies; it stores an authentication token securely on your device.
9. Children
MyPetCare.Pro is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be notified by email. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the current version.
